I grew up in a small coal mining community near Hershey, Pennsylvania and earned my bachelor's degree in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, my husband and I traveled to Daegu, South Korea where we lived on the seventeenth floor of a high-rise apartment building and taught English as a Second Language to Korean middle school students. Upon returning to the United States, we relocated to north central Iowa where I spent three wonderful years teaching Preschool through 8th grade vocal and instrumental music and learning all about life on the farm. In 2013, we relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I taught preschool and preschool music while completing my master's degree in music education through Colorado State University's distance learning program. Last summer, we moved to south eastern Michigan and I have quickly fallen in love with our new home!
When I am not at Loon Lake, I enjoy hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and traveling. This summer I began training to run a sprint triathlon in 2017. There will be lots of running, biking, and swimming in my future!
I am very much looking forward to seeing all of you and I hope that you will find this blog to be a useful resource for staying up-to-date with Loon Lake's music classroom.
